Courtlands Independent Special School

Intake

At Courtlands, we understand that mainstream educational environments can often be overwhelming for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), particularly those with a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, or associated specific learning difficulties. The noise, fast pace, and high social demands of mainstream schools can present significant challenges, leaving many children disengaged, anxious, or unable to thrive.

Our setting offers a calm, structured, and supportive alternative. At the heart of our provision is a dedicated team of academic and therapeutic professionals who work collaboratively to address each child’s individual needs. Through this integrated wraparound approach, we are able to support not only the academic development of our pupils but also their emotional, behavioural, and social growth.

Small class sizes, clear routines, and low-stimulus environments create the conditions for children to feel safe, secure, and ready to learn. Our staff are highly experienced in understanding and managing the complex profiles of children who have not succeeded in mainstream, and we focus on rebuilding confidence, resilience, and positive relationships with learning.

We work closely with families and other professionals to ensure each child’s experience at Courtlands is one of success, belonging, and meaningful progress.
