ELSA
ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) is a school-based intervention designed to support the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. It aims to help students develop emotional awareness, regulate their feelings, and build resilience through structured sessions led by trained support assistants. ELSA's work closely with educational psychologists to tailor interventions for individual needs, covering areas such as anxiety, self-esteem, anger management, social skills, and loss.
Courtlands School provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school uses a multi-faceted approach to support emotional, social, and cognitive development. A key part of this provision includes the delivery of ELSA sessions, which are coordinated and led by trained professional Miss Hunter. Through her training and expertise, she ensures that interventions are carefully adapted to the unique needs of each child, fostering trust and positive emotional growth.
Beyond ELSA, Courtlands offers a range of therapeutic interventions, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration, and play therapy. These services are embedded within the school day to provide accessible and meaningful support. Courtlands also collaborates with families and external agencies to create consistent care strategies. Through these integrated services and professionals like Miss Hunter, the school creates a safe, supportive space where students with SEN can thrive emotionally and academically.
