Examination Pathways

Key Stage 4 Examination Pathways
At Courtlands School, we are committed to providing a broad and inclusive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our learners. Our Key Stage 4 exam pathways are designed to offer accessible and meaningful qualifications that support progression into further education, training, or employment.
Students at Courtlands School follow a personalised pathway that may include a combination of the following qualifications:
  • GCSEs: Where appropriate, students are entered for GCSE subjects to challenge and extend their academic potential.
  • Entry Level Certificates: These provide a foundation for learners who benefit from a more supported approach to subject content and assessment.
  • Functional Skills: Offered in English, Mathematics, and ICT, these qualifications focus on practical application of core skills in everyday contexts and are available from Entry Level to Level 2.
  • Vocational and Life Skills Courses: These may include ASDAN or other accredited programmes that promote independence, employability, and personal development.
Our approach ensures that every student is given the opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications that reflect their abilities and aspirations. We work closely with families and external providers to tailor each learner’s pathway for maximum success.
