Courtlands School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and compassionate Science Teacher (part-time) or an exceptional Science/Maths Teacher (full-time) to join our dedicated teaching team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a nurturing, well-resourced independent special school where therapeutic practice and relational working are central to everything we do.

About the Role
Depending on the successful candidate, this post may be:
Option A – Part-Time Science Teacher (3 days per week)
or
Option B – Full-Time Science & Maths Teacher
• Deliver engaging, practical and accessible lessons in Science (and Maths if full-time)
• Differentiate effectively for a wide range of learning, sensory and emotional needs
• Work closely with the therapeutic team to embed strategies in daily teaching
• Create a safe, structured and inspiring learning environment
• Plan and assess in line with pupil needs, EHCP outcomes and school frameworks
• Support pupils to develop a love of investigation, curiosity and problem-solving
• Contribute to reviews, meetings and joint planning as required
This role is suitable for both experienced teachers and early-career teachers with a passion for SEND. Support and training are provided.
About You
• Passionate about Science (and Maths if applying for full-time)
• Committed to inclusive education and child-centred practice
• Skilled at building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Calm, patient and able to use relational approaches
• Creative and adaptable in curriculum delivery
• A strong communicator and reflective practitioner
• Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
SEND experience is beneficial but not essential — a willingness to learn and the right ethos are most important.
